3 litre V6, '98 model. Fuel pump cut out, and won't run.

Pump seems OK - can run it from a wire direct from the battery.

Also have amber LOW OIL QUANTITY light continuously illuminated. Cannot get that warning to extinguish, even after cutting the wires to the sender and joining them up to make a circuit.

Is it possible the LOW OIL QUANTITY light sends a signal to stop the fuel pump?

This happened at an off-road trial, so: is there a crash switch on this model?  I have regularly jumped my '96 model, and never had any problems. But, maybe the later one has a crash switch (it does have airbags, unlike the earlier one).

Thanks

Mechanic friend, Swavomir, suggested it was likely to be an earth problem.

Checked the negative battery terminal - several additional wires held on by... a finger tight nut. Tighten up the nut and... Bingo! Back in business.

And the low oil quantity light extinguishes when the engine runs.

Feeling embarrassed, but, happy to have it running again, even if I did wait 6 hours for an AA relay to carry me the 70 miles home...
