I know this has been covered many times but here is my suggestion.
the pipe corrodes where it is secured above the rear axle
Remove bracket it may be necessary to use a grinder.
cut pipe, take a length of 16mm internal diameter radiator hose and slide over one end of the pipe,do not cut any of the metal pipe off.
you should get about 150mm on the pipe
put rubber pipe over other side of metal pipe, about 75mm.
secure with stainless steel jubilee clips
repeat on other pipe.
refill coolant
hey presto all good

Good idea - mine haven't corroded yet - but no doubt they will!

Hi folks

Can I ask what model shogun are you referring to?
I just picked up a 1990 mk1 v6 auto. One of the first things I need address is there's no heat (wrong time of year to be in this position I know  Rolling Eyes)  . The pipes to the rear heater unit have been cut and blanked off. Is it common for the heater to fail? Are they expensive to fix or replace?

Any help much appreciated 👍

If you have no heat from the front heater it maybe due to a blocked heater matrix.

Often it can be cleared by flushing the matrix using a garden hose.

What state is the coolant in the radiator?

Hi thanks for the reply

Coolant in rad seems fine. The previous owner said it was undiluted ready mixed out of the bottle but it looks a little weak to me, not as strong a blue colour as some brands.

Is picture attaching still done through photo bucket or similar? I can't get it to work through forum.
I had a pic of the bypass. Also the top of the rear heater thing (under 2nd row seats) has a valve open/shut lever. It was shut. What's it's purpose, to isolate the rear unit? If so why did someone physically bypass it 😮
