Hey guys,

Its that time for me to change plugs and belts and I was wondering if there are known spark plugs that would be really efficient on my engine. I remember years ago using a two prong iridium plug and was getting 350 miles to the tank. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

I was just about to start a thread on this same issue for the same engine.

I am unable to purchase either the Iridium or double-platinum plugs locally and must get them from either the U.S. or Asia.

I ended up getting the NGK Laser Platinum Plug Spark Plugs PFR5J-11 4642, as these seem to come with the highest recommendation.

Other people have recommended NGK Iridium BKR5EIX-11 5464, but from my research the double-platinum plugs mentioned above come with the highest rating for mileage/kilometers.

I think both plugs are good but it seems that the double-platinum plugs came out just a bit better, from what I've read (not from my own experience). I also read something about the Iridiums not producing the best spark with their tiny tip.

Thanks for the response. I finally changed the belt and plugs this week. now I have a high rev and I am suspecting the cable to the Idle control valve being hard and brittle. I am trying to see if the Idle control valve is working as it should so this is another project in itself. The vehicle was usually set to 850 rpm but now its at 1500 rpm at idle.
