I hada snorkel fitted to my facelift/wide arch whathaveyou and despite it saying it was a fit that was only along the wing as the upturn didn't match the windscreen by about an inch at the top and it had to be really screwed back in to look anything and the top piece was at such an angle that it was useless in the rain. In the end I took the top off and put on a pre-filter bowl. Drilling through also turned out to be a pain because of the lack of a template. The angle of the wing itself also presented a problem as the drill tends to slip and you're drilling through straight while drilling metal which is at an angle.
It got called the fishbowl but it was something I'd seen on a few other snorkels and is a pre-filter off a tractor. Works very well, better than a bit of foam stuck behind a plastic grill. |

To wind the neck into the A pillar the fitter used rivet-nuts and these held quite well. As you're in Spain, I'm assuming hot and dusty, the pre-filter bowl should work much better than a standard snorkel filter and head. The air is pushed up from underneath the bowl, there are large vents all the way round it, centrifugal forces pushes the dust and stuff to the wall of the bowl where there are small sections which disturb the flow of air and cause the dust to drop and the cleaner air is driven down to the cars normal filter in the engine bay. I've always used K+N filters in any case. The join between the underneath of the bowl and the neck of the snorkel needs a little working on but it's no big deal. To clean the bowl just unscrew the wingnut from the top, lift the bowl out and clean. Easy peasy. |

You can't upload images directly to the forum. You will need to use a service such as Imgur and then copy/paste a BB link from there into your post. |

Put masking tape on, mark onto the masking tape, centre pop lightly with a small centre pop and then no drill slippage at all. |
