|
|
Hi
I am considering buying a Pajero Mini XR-II
I have tried a couple of insurance companies but don't really recognise the model and ££££!!!!
Does anyone have information on insurance companies that specialise and recognise the mini pajeros
On another point are these mini trucks robust and anything I should look out for when buying one ?
Seems to be a few models mini Xr , mini vr , junior etc.....
I already own a pajero v55 evolution 3.5 mivec but would really like a kei version of the pajero.
Thanks

Excuse my ignorance what is a mini Pajero ? I have just bought a pinin as a project I have maximum NCD so I thought I am 63 and been driving since I was 17 the vehicle is worth about £250 in its present state here are a taste of quotes for insurance AA £950 200 excess 250 volentry
Direct line 152 excess 250 volentry300 I went with direct line only to be told my NCD was not acceptable as it was 3years since I insured a vehicle never mind that I was a named driver on my wife's policy and claim free So shop around I had to stomp up another 85 quid |

Hi Hillbillypop - Mitsubishi Pajero Mini is a 659cc engined KEI (Japanese for Light Automobile) grey import vehicle. There's also a Mitsubishi Pajero Junior, which is almost identical (same body etc) aside from a few specs, the most obvious being the larger 1.1 engine.
Visually it looks like someones put a Shogun in a washing machine - shrunk down version 4x4.
If anyone has trouble getting insurance then first stopping point would be Adrian Flux - a 4x4 specialist (0800-081-8989). Very helpful and flexible, generally come in with very good prices, and if you have insurance on another vehicle then they offer insurance mirroring (e.g. they honour your NCB from the other vehicle and apply it to your new vehicle quote. If you are really looking for cheapest quotes, once the insurance details have been read to you, let them know you want the cheapest option available and want to 'strip out' the "nice to haves" [Do you really need european breakdown cover etc].
Another very helpful 4x4 specialist insurer is Advanced Insurance 01793-522542) - Guys in there are fantastic, very very helpful - I've even had 3 of them apply their respctive staff discounts to bring my insurance down!
I'll admit to being a Mitsubishi advocate, previously had a Galant and a VR4, then brought a Shogun (3.0 SWB 24 valve), got the Pajer Mini XRII (659cc 20V DOHC Turbo) and then needed an official work vehicle so got the ASX 3 Crossover. Touch wood - like a lot of Japmobiles they've all been very reliant.
Mini's and Juniors are not as popular as other makes and a limited amount of them around in the UK, but great fun little cars.
Best

Nice to see another owner of these little motors. Very underrated in my opinion and if it were not for the huge appeal of the Pajero mini and Junior the Pinin probably would never have come about. |

I have had a 650cc Pajero mini (manual shift) for quite a few years now, great little vehicle. I pay around 400 quid a year to insure it with Adrian Flux. |

There are very few on my Junior left registered, just 4. Flux actually offered one of the more expensive quotes for me at well over £500 where online I got £245. Every year their quote has been too high. But the greater problem is cost of parts. |
