Evening fellas
Anyone else had their 4x4 go down on them in a zr2 junior?
The light in the dash doesn’t come on anymore when selecting 4wd
The rear axle will go into low range but got no drive in front axle.
My mechanic reckons it’s the actuator having checked the vacuum hoses which are ok - my mate who I bought the truck from 4 years ago reckons it’s happened to him in the past and it’s a fuse - but not one in the main box / interior board.
Who is right do you think?
The mechanic is a general mechanic who has never worked on a junior ever before before everyone says trust the mechanic!
Whilst we are on fuses, I have a 25 amp fuse which blows when I stick the lights on.
The head lights / side lights don’t go out, but the fuse goes.
No fog lights on front or back - therein probably lies the answer, but looking at the diagram on the site it seems the 25 amp is for the heater.
Could be the wrong fuse in the wrong place.
Wondered if anyone else had had either of these issues?
Thanks!

Further to my last post I have now established that the fuse which is blowing is the tail / side light fuse.
So now I’m looking for a short I suppose.
Still no further with the 4wd issue. |

Unfortunately I have only ever seen two Junior owners on here.
The fuse will be a short somewhere - time consuming to find.
As for the 4WD - the best I can do is point you HERE - it is a guide for the big Pajero but maybe similar to your truck.
Good luck. |

Problem solved - if anyone else ever comes across my post wth same issue.
Checked the vacuum on the actuator and all was well.
Tried to move the actuator with the car in neutral and it was jammed solid.
So removed the entire front diff and replaced it with a donor diff off a mini - but had to take one side of the drive shaft off the original as the mini is not quite as wide wheel base.
Refitted and filled with oil.
All working perfectly now.
The electrical gremlins ended up being a wire shorting out behind the radio.
Doubt that will be of any help to anyone but you never know.

I'm glad that you got it sorted - congratulations.
The full size trucks can also suffer from shorts behind the radio. |

A very useful post thanks.
I fear that in my case if something like that happens to mine it will be what I describe as a catastrophic event cos I won't be replacing a diff. A catastrophic event is one where I see the life of the vehicle at an end.
Were you not able to free off the actuator? Do you have any pics. |
