Hi all.

Thanks for letting me in your the group.

I would like the best information you guys can offer please.

I've got a 3.0 53 plate petrol pajero. When you let it tick over it overheats. It's fine when your driving around. An example is that I popped into a shop ..left ticking over..when I came back it was almost in the red, cooled down when moving again.

Can you guys help me out?

What could it be?

And how do I check?

Very grateful.

Welcome to the club.

When was the cooling system last flushed and the coolant renewed?

Hi. I've only had the vehicle about 1 month. It's just started doing this recently. It's not loosing coolant . Nothing appears to be leaking. Wondering if it could be the thermostat or pump but how do I check?

When you are moving, air gets forced through the radiator and cools the engine. When you are not moving, there is less air passing through the radiator.

If the cooling system is partially blocked - including the radiator - then it will not cool the engine properly so it needs more air through the radiator.

Have a look at the condition of the coolant in the radiator - if it is rusty then it is ready for changing.

It is MUCH easier to flush the system than change the thermostat and water pump - so do that first and see if it helps with the problem.
