Maybe this will be of use to someone - especially as there doesn't seem to be a working fan available for the MkII any more.

I have spent far too much time trying to get my condenser fan working.

First attempt - Buy a used one ..... typical, it did not work!

Second attempt - get my original one spinning on the bench and keep squirting silicon oil / WD40 / 3in1 oil etc etc into the motor.
Lots of rust came out and the motor was working fine. Two months later it stopped working nd needed thumping with a hammer to get it to spin.

Third attempt - replace the motor.

Buy a 12 inch electric fan - £25 off eBay

Get the angle grinder to the old motor and cut off the back plate - then cut a hole to take the new motor

Fit the modified plate and the new fan motor

Fit the blades

It still needs painting and the wiring connector splicing onto the fan wires - the fan is a reversible one so needs converting to "push" which involves wiring it "backwards" and turning the fan over on the motor spindle.

It's too cold to do any of that today - and I don't want my hands to look like they did last time I changed it!

It's blood Kev  Sad  - getting the fan out is much more difficult than it ought to be!

It's been a warm winter so hopefully a really hot summer to follow.

Hells teeth  Shocked changing the fan should come with a health warning Exclamation

I have no idea if mine works, but I'm not risking injuries like that for air con...

The wire cover on the fan acts like a cheese grater on your skin - but the bottom fixing bolt is so difficult to get to that your hand has to rub against it.

Hey Pete, how did this mod end up? I tracked down a new motor to fit the genuine housing but it was bloody expensive.

It's two years since I did it and it is still working perfectly - air con is nice and cold.

Did you buy a genuine motor? - my replacement was just one off eBay.

I haven't bought on yet, just looking online now.

Good price but the freight is a killer for me! $26 + $53 freight!

Wow! - that's a lot !

I had a similar problem with a set of carpets. The only place in the world (that I could find) that makes them for the MkII is in Australia, steam pressed to the correct shape.

The manufacturer wouldn't ship to the UK due to the cost of shipping - even though I was willing to pay. Total cost was nearly £500 which I didn't think was too bad.

It's because they are pressed into shape - so a lot of work making them.

I was looking seven years ago when the value of my truck was higher - I couldn't justify spending that much on carpets now.

I doubt my Pajero in total is worth £500 any more  crybaby  - although the carpets aren't in too bad condition given they're 27 years old.

Mine are OK - probably because they are only 23 years old  Very Happy

They get a good clean with carpet shampoo every so often - and I have fitted carpet mats that cover all the bits that get people's feet on them.

Seven years ago I would have paid for new carpets if I could have got them - but other things need doing - new tyres and wheels and two new batteries this year which is the best part of £1000  Shocked

problem with buying stuff from Australia is the postage..when i was wanting a tjm snorkel for my wide arch i was told for what the postage cost as it goes by volume instead of buying one snorkel buy 2 because of the shape of the packaging they would use..problem was no one was willing to buy the other snorkel plus half the cost of shipping but given as it would have worked out at nearly £300 a snorkel i was not surprised Exclamation
