Hi, I gave up ages ago trying to find an English maintenance manual. Fortunately the mechanic I use is very resourceful in keeping it maintained, well so far as we haven’t had a major problem ignoring the auto high temp sensor problem. The dreaded MOT is up soon and I must admit I am concerned it will fail on the auto high temp light staying on particularly with the new rules.

Engines are engines and gearbox’s are gearbox’s so a competent diy’r or decent mechanic should be able to maintain if they can get the parts and that is a big if.

Sometimes I wonder if the parts struggle is worth it.  The problem is that this style of small 4x4 is disappearing fast and I suspect the upcoming new Jimny will take the market over. Apart from the Terios there seems precious little to fill the gap left by the Junior. If something serious or catastrophic goes wrong it will be the end of my Junior. Some things will be totally uneconomic to repair. All parts can be gotten from Japan or AE but the cost is horrendous. Most parts can be ordered with many available from Mitsubishi dealers but again when is enough enough!!
A good proportion of the Junior is Io/Pinin/Colt and as you say a mechanic or DIYer used to seeing those cars or similar should be able to cope. Tech spec info is the real problem. I use my SJ manual as a subs and TBH it is effective.
