It all seems very sensible to me. The popular press seems to have made a mountain out of a molehill on this new testing regime.

Only another 18 years to go and my Challenger won't require an MOT anyway.  Wink

It seems like the tighter emissions rules only apply to vehicles with a DPF fitted - so mine is OK.

Only 17 years for mine!!  Very Happy

Hmm, the Government behaves in a very odd way sometimes. Check out some of new stuff that’s been added. The “brake pad warning lights and if brake pads or discs are missing” inclusion is interesting. Would have thought that a missing brake disc would be obvious on the way to the MOT testing centre  Rolling Eyes

It might be a consequence of those idiots on push bikes who have a fixed gear and remove the front brake. Maybe some people have started doing it on cars  Shocked

They would both be missing on a car with drum brakes on all four wheels  Very Happy

Some relaxing of rules too - you'll now no longer get a fail if you have one number plate light out, as long as there's another one working. I think the brake disc/pad bit is more aimed at things like quad bikes and mopeds than cars.

The new rules do mean I'll have to remove my aftermarket HID headlights from my Subaru though as it specifically says that you cannot replace halogen bulbs with HID.
