On Monday my Sport was parked on a main road - some nutter came up the road, hitting the parked Kia in front of me causing that to go into the front of mine, and pushing me into the one behind... all while i was at work!
Police gave me all the details and its going through the insurance, but they have written the car off
Damage is:
Font bumper
Nudge bar
grille
bonnet slam panel
pushed the rad back, but not blown
rear bumper
the company haven't valued it yet, but i can't see that I am going to get much for it. The running gear fine, it's done 110,000 miles, although does have its problems (radio issues, dash lights, rattle from boot and a few others)
Is it worth keeping and fixing, or cut my losses and sell back? if someone on here wants to make me an offer, i'll be interested

That's a shame, but neither the damage caused or the pre-damage faults seem too serious.
You might be able to buy it back from the insurers and use the cash difference to get it fixed by a small garage who won't charge you inflated 'insurance' rates.
It all depends if you think the vehicle is worth keeping or not. Will you get anything better for the write-off value? |

if the chassis and body structure is fine i would keep it...i remember years ago that if the damage was not your fault, and the main structure was sound then you could make the insurance company put the vehicle right regardless of how much it cost,my mate did it with his td5 cost the insurance more to repair than what the value was...but i don,t know if that was a loophole that may have been closed, because it,s cheaper now for insurance companies just to right a car of....the lad next door had his passat wrote off when some one went in the back of him the damage was on broken light and the bumper twisted....why they wrote it off i don,t know why he took it to an insurance body shop who did the survey for the insurance company, when he bought it back he got the same company to fix it...he was paid 3k for the car bought it back for £250 and spent £800 in repairs so he actually made money from it
strange how insurance companies opperate |
