Maybe just a little paranoid here... was out fixing the trailer so decided to get under the motor as well whilst I had the tools outside to put some Liqui Moly molly additive in it... no getting that off easily with the 1/2” ratchet... google says its IRO 50-60Nm. Obvious paranoia is ending up off the road for stripping it.

Can you safely take them off with an impact gun?  What size is the thread?

It’s a proper DeWalt one with proper impact sockets... handy for bikes, quads, trailers... guess Pajero not far off light truck so need heavy tooling.  Back on with torque wrench or impact gun?  My calibrated arm says its been rattled on at least 3-4 dugga duggas with a 3/4” air gun... could be wrong.  Will be a wrastle lying under the motor though.

I’d try a breaker bar before an impact gun.

Wouldn’t the impact action have less chance of stripping/shearing?

Never use an impact gun on them as the percussion action hits them with continual blows and this can damage the bung and socket threads.

Use only the correct 6 point socket and NOT the 12 point socket if they are tight and use a power bar on them with an even force as opposed to hammer actions.
