Hi guys,

Just picked up a 2004 shogun sport equippe 2.5 cheap due to having apparent fuel pump issues. Im a mechanic to trade so had no problem taking it on with tbe price i got it for but after a quick look i dont think its a FP problem.

According to the previous owner:
Gave it to a family member who filled it with petrol, drove a few miles before it spluttered and died. Tank was dropped, cleaned and filled with diesel, new filter and she fired amd ran. Weeks later issues driving, smokey and losing power. Eventually leading to a non start and me buying it.

Got a snapon modus onto it, no fault codes (although green 4wd stmbol flashing, will search for that but dont think it would cause a non start). Fired her up with easy start so i could actuate components, and xpuld see the turbo actuator and egr were very 'bouncy' so checked vacuum from the pump, seemed ok. After reading about the EGR issues on these i pulled it and cleaned it, wasnt the worst ive ever seen. Checked the vacuum to the solenoid on the inner wing, the vacuun in seems fine but the diaphragm in the solenoid was leaking. Covered up the vent side and turned the key, took a bit but she fired up and took a rev, which hadnt been happening. Thats about as much time as ive had on it so far, in the middle of moving house.

Modus is a bit limited as to what live data it gives, no fuel pressure readings and doesnt even connect all the time but from what ive seen im relectant to down the FP until i get some replacement solenoids and software that will give me a bit more data.

Always wanted a shogun and finally got one, just trying to figure out if im on the right track or should i be looking for a pump?

Thanks!
