Jumpy revs and engine flutter

Hi all, help please!

Driving as normal the other day and the rev counter starting jumping and stuttering.

Was as if the engine was labouring one second then running fast the next.

Didnt happen when not moving and seemed to clear when engine restarted but quickly happened again. Local garage tried a reader but not talking to it so suggested speed sensor??

Anyway, not rectified so going back in but wondered if anybody has had this? Question
