I am having to lift the back door to shut it, I'm presuming there is play in the hinges, before I attempt a fix has anyone had this before?

Thanks

Yes, on many vehicles.

You can remove the hinges and ream then out and fit new pins in the newly finished holes, or you can do them on the vehicle, you may also find the pin has snapped inside the hinge.

Alright stranger, hope you are keeping wel. I had a brief look today, I actually think there is a shim missing. Might get chance to have a go tomorrow weather permitting.

Cheers

Hi Ted, the shims sit between the round portions of the hinges and act as thrust washers to stop the metal surfaces of the hinges running against each other.
