Hi all.
I think my alternator has given up the ghost and hoped one of you kind people would give your advice.

Driving to work this morning on a steep  windy road and suddenly the steering went really stiff. Stiffer than I ever remember a lack of power steering to be - might be wrong.

Oil light, A/T light and battery light all lit up permanently. Fortunately less than a mile from home so drove it cautiously home.
Popped the bonnet and only the bottom belt was spinning (one linked to AC).
Smell of rubber too.

Would a faulty alternator cause all that or do I have worse problems still?
Had a leaking power steering box recently too, but that seems to have stopped of late.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Has the pump seized? The sudden cessation of a leak would suggest that the source liquid is no longer there, or did you top it off between leaky spells?

That wouldn't explain the oil pressure and transmission warning lamps coming up though..

If the only belt driving is that to the a/c then that accounts for the loss of charge.

Sorry for the delay in replying.
It's the crank pulley at fault. Delaminated is the word you guys use.

Need to get a new pulley sorted sharpish. I've had a search and there seems to be an assortment - anyone care to point me in the right direction?
