Hello folks,

been wanting to do this post for ages.

Since Im in Portugal and here its called a Pajero Sport Wagon with the 4D56 turbo intercooler engine, what is this vehicle known as here on this forum?

its registered as a march 1999 so what generation is it?

some places its a shogun, some its the Pajero...i find it all a bit confusing..

...and, can i get an english workshop manual for it?....tried looking at Haynes but nothing seems to match!?

Id love to get a manual...do i have to get one manual for another vehicle that covers my engine and another that covers body/brakes/transfer box/gearbox etc?

The vehicle you've got is known in the UK as the Shogun Sport. It's also called the Montero Sport in some markets, and was originally named 'Challenger' in others.

If yours is a 1999, that will be the first generation model. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_Challenger

This clears up a lot of confusion. many times when trying to locate parts on different websites, im being asked questions that I dont know how to answer and end up guessing. Im looking forward to getting into these manuals and learning about the vehicle.

My pleasure. One thing to note is that most of these vehicles don't have the 'Super Select' transfer box, which means they don't have a centre differential. So 4WD is for loose surfaces only. If used on hard surfaces (e.g. tarmac roads) the transmission can 'wind up' with torque between the front and rear axles. If allowed to continue, this can get bad enough to damage the transmission.

The only way to be sure is to get the chassis number for your vehicle as in many markets a model was continued to be sold long after they were replaced with newer models in other markets.

When Simon sends you the manuals then look at the chassis numbers in it as it will usually say "from chassis number to chassis number".
