Tnx... but you have different size tyres to me, I have 265/70x15, so does 30psi all round still apply?

OK, OK I know that this thread is old and has been done to death, but I have read this thread until my eye bled.

So for a new Pajero owner what is the correct tyre pressures for a 1996 2.8 LWB with 265/70/15 COOPER DISCOVERER AT tyres. 1.8/2.0 on the door pillar sticker, but folks here say that is way too low??

Tin hat on Laughing

1.8 bar is equal to 26 psi.
2.0 bar is equal to 29 psi.

If that is what your sticker says then try those pressures, if the bottoms of the tyres look to be bulging then I would increase the pressures, if the tyres look ok and vehicle handles well then stick to that.
It seems quite a few people on here have the 265 / 70 R 15 tyres and run them at 30 psi without problems.

So are we all settled that 30psi all round is good for 265/70/15 COOPER DISCOVERER AT tyres?

I run my Challenger on 2.0 bar all round (30 psi) and it looks and feels right.  By looking right I mean that the sidewalls aren't bulging excessively or not enough.  A bit of compliance in the sidewall is required to absorb shock. If the pressure is too high the ride will suffer and also the area of rubber on the road is reduced, thus reducing traction.  The brand of tyre isn't relevant, although some tyres have stiffer sidewalls than others and my deflect less.

It's a little-known fact that the pressure inside a tyre is exactly the same as the pressure that the tyre exerts on the ground underneath it. So using imperial measurements that means at 30 psi each square inch of the ground is bearing 30 lbs of mass. Divide your vehicle weight (in lbs) by 30 and that's how many square inches of rubber are in contact with the ground.

I suppose generally it is a bit warmer over here and this could make a difference but for FWIW:

I drive a Gen 4-4 (2017 NX) Pajero 3.2DiD.

I run two sets of tyres depending what I am doing. On standard rims I am currently running Bridgestone D840 in 265/60R18 H/T. On Steel Rims Cooper ST Maxx in 265/65R17.
I also tow a camper trailer on outings which weighs approx 1800Kg loaded.

https://www.vistarv.com.au/index.php

In the highway tyres I run 35PSI all round. If towing the camper trailer, I adjust to the sticker recommendation of 36PSI Front and 44PSI Rear.
In the Off road tyres, I adjust pressures as required, that is:
Traveling to 4WD areas, I run the pressures as indicated on my sticker Front 36PSI Rear 44PSI
Get to the 4WD tracks, drop pressures as required including those on the camper trailer. On sand/mud may be 15-18PSI on rough rocky tracks 20 - 25PSI.

I usually rely on the sticker on the driver's door, especially if it is a new car.
