Just got a W Reg 3.0 V6 Shogun Sport and have found that the transmission oil is a cm above the hot mak on the transmisson dipstick.
How do I drain the overfilled oil down to the correct level

Excuse my asking the obvious, but were you reading the level with the engine up to temperature (say after a good long run) idling, having first gone from park round to the lowest gear and then back the other way, pausing in every position before selecting park again and reading the dipstick immediately, with the engine running and the transmission still in park?

It's just that some folk read the level with the engine not running and after standing for a night as they would with the engine oil level. Doing that would tend to make the level appear too high as much of the atf will have drained back from the t/c into the pan.
