I'm not sure exactly what the 100A fuse protects but could be a chafed wire which only shorts out when the motor is revved and twists a bit on its mounts? |

It helps if you specify the model
Anyway please check the main wire going from that 100A fuse to the alternator main terminal. In my Pajero (2.8 Gen2), two white wires routed underneath the sump to the alternator.
If there is a section of wire you cannot check, get a heavy gauge wire and connect the alternator main output and the 100A fuse (disconnecting two white wires) and see if solves your problem |

Problem is not definitely the fuse.
Earlier, if the 100 AMP fuse was blown, means, if you put whatever the rating below 100 will be blown if you put it without correcting the original problem.
My guess is there was a short circuit from the alternator main wire (damaged wire touching something), and now it is not touching. You need to find that and fix, otherwise, the new fuse will be blown when you are not expecting. |

!00% agree, the 80A fuse or slack belts are not solutions you just haven't found the problem yet. |
