So,

MOT time.... front wheel bearing appears to have some play... so, ordered the new hub for the 2006. Model I have, arrived and looked great!

Took the wheel off and..... what?? It is completely different. The hub is a mk2 on a mk3 model...... anyone else have this?

I would imagine it must be.... it says in the manual to torque the locking plate to 200nm using a suitable tool so as to lock the bearings in, then release and retorque to 30nm..... how the hell am I meant to do that?

At least I can just change the bearings and not the whole hub!

If they are like mine - see here - http://www.pocuk.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=164410
Do not torque them up to 200nm - see post for how to do it.
Paul.

If there is play, can they just be adjusted to remove the play?

Yes they can be adjusted but some of the manuals talk about doing them up to 200NM, but that is for another type of bearing I think. I did mine as per my Frontera (Izuzu) manual and they are perfect.
