Hello,
I have a worn lower shock absorber bush and, according to the mechanic who was going to repair it, it has a "load sensor" at the top of the shocker which he is reluctant to remove because he's worried he may snap off the bolt. I can't give any more info about it than this because I've managed to develop a disability which means I now have to rely on others to tell me what needs to be done. To be honest, I've lost faith in some "mechanics" since being told on the MOT failure sheet that I have, "a N/S hydraulic brake cylinder leaking", not sure where I'm going to find a brake cylinder when I've got discs all round.
Does anyone know anything about this load sensor, if that's what it is; I'm wondering if it could be something to do with the adjustable shock absorbers, mine no longer is because I have ordinary shockers all round.? |

it,s not a load sensor on the top of the shock it,s an electric motor which is used to adjust the suspension between hard soft and medium there will be a switch inside the cabin and when you press the switch you should see it toggle on the dash where it has smh in the rev counter area...problem with them is age wear and tear chances the shock absorber still working as it would when it left the factory is rare...most people just replace with standard shocks as the genuine electric adjustable are expensive £200 per corner... |

Hi,
Thank you, I suspected that's what it was but it's nice to have the info from someone who knows what they're talking about. One more thing, as it isn't an adjustable shock absorber and I'm not replacing it with one, can I safely assume that snapping a bolt from this actuator (I read the manual) isn't a problem? |

i am just wondering if the motor had been put back in place (ie on top of the shock ) to keep it out of the way, most people unplug them and then tape the main wiring loom plug up and cable tie them out of the way thats how mine have been done |
