Hi guys
Put the car in for it’s mot, passed ok but garage local Mitsubishi dealer phoned to say the abs lights have come on they checked it using their mutt system and cleared the code and lights went out, they’ve informed me it’s needing the drivers side rear sensor replaced, so question is has anyone on here changed the rear sensors on a mk4 I’ve done the fronts and they were a pig to do due to sized bolts.
Thanks in advance |

I find it hard to believe I’m the only person on here that’s had problems with the abs sensors and yet nobody has bothered to help with a reply, this place is definitely not what it used to be, I wonder why I bother with it. |

I don't know about your model, but on the MK11 the rears are easy. Maybe the same on yours. |

MK3 and MK4 have a lot in common ..ABS sensors are alike the only problem i found was rust and some time,s a broken bolt. But if your replacing it does it matter how you getting the old one out |

Removed mine from the rear at the weekend as I was remove the hub. Give the securing bolt a good squirt of penetrating fluid and tap the bolt head to help break the corrosion and the bolt will come out without shearing.
The sensor on mine was stuck in tight too. Needed to lever it up at opposite ends until it came free. The sensors are pretty robust so you may only need to clean it up with some electrical contact cleaner or IPA if it isn’t cracked. |
