The so called lift pump is an integral part of the IP hence my previous advice below.
If the engine won't start even on it's dedicated fuel supply, or even if it does start, I'd add some diesel injector cleaner to that fuel. Given it ran well when parked, the suction pump in the IP could have some of it's sliding vanes stuck in their slides, their fit is precise. Injector cleaner can remove varnish and other residue, true also for the pump pistons. |

Thanks Dave. Got lots going on at the minute with building work, health issues and job search, so somehow managed to overlook attempting the last lot of advice you offered. I will try this asap and let you know of the results. Thanks again mate. |

how did you get on with this...
I'm having similar problems, I can prime the filter and she runs, cuts out after a couple of mins
when I check the filter prime there's no pressure, prime again and it'll run for a couple of mins again |

I suggest you either have a small leak in the fuel line, or a leak or valve failure in the hand priming pump. |

thanks for the reply, If I keep priming the car it keeps running as sweet as a nut or as well as you'd expect a 2006 Sport to run
I'll try diverting the fuel lines into a clean container of fuel & see how that performs
The problems have gone downhill since replacing the old fuel tank with a 'solid' 2nd hand tank, possibly the new tanks outlets could be porous or the lines from the tank look badly corroded...no leaks or wet areas spotted though
I haven't paid a great deal of attention to the car this year, I usually get underneath it and give it a bit of underseal prior to MOT time, looking at the underside recently I can see the chassis is really starting to show it's age and requires a few plates welding on it now, the joys of old cars |

found the pipe around the chassis / tank area were corroded and drawing in air, plan is to fit flexible fuel pipe from the tank outlets to an accessible area under the car where the fuel metal fuel lines are less corroded / solid |

Sorry gents been off the grid for a little while due to other things keeping me busy.
Elgassi, please don't apologise, hope you've sorted your truck now.
Unfortunately mine is still a non-runner, though I've taken the tank off now and intend to refurb it, tidy it up and fit some new hosing and pick up lines. Just gonna rule out every possible source of fuelling issues before I take the plunge and remove the IP and injectors for testing and refurb. |

Hi
the areas I had to repair to get my Shogun up and running where:
corrode fuel lines cut and repaired
Fuel tank porous in a couple of places, clean external areas and applied metal putty, sealed tank perfectly
bled the system, runs perfectly |

Hi Elgassi,
Glad to hear you've had success with your truck.
I intend to check for corrosion and leaks throughout the fuel system now I have the tank off.
Unfortunately I was unable to get mine to run even when running fuel directly to the pump from a fresh can of diesel, so it would likely rule out an issue anywhere other than in the engine bay, or so I'm assuming.
My hunch is that the IP is the problem.
I have fuel at the injectors but it's more a dribble than an atomised spray as I'd expect.
I shall replace all braided hoses in system and may also replace the lift pump (which I'm led to believe is a heated mk2 one, rather than the unheated MK1 one you'd expect for Pajero of its age???) then try once more, but then I fear it will be time for the pump and injectors to come off and go to a specialist for testing.
Regards, Wayne. |

Hi Fisher Price,
Just wondering, did you ever get the engine sorted? I have almost identical problems, have gone down the route you've taken but no joy so far.
Thanks, Luke |
