|
|
Hi There
Anyone able to advice on a suppler for a refurbished front diff for a Mk3 56 reg 3.2 DI-D?
I need to replace front wheel bearing and the diff bearings have been noisy for the last 20K miles so guessing I should do the diff whilst I have the driveshafts out for the wheel bearings////
Many thanks. |

Most axle specialists will be able to refurbish them at a reasonable price, alternatively you could get the technical data and parts and do it yourself. |

Its relatively straight forward to remove the front diff carrier, replacement diffs cheap on ebay, just get the ratio right. They dont go wrong very often, are you sure its the diff not the UJ on the driveshaft? |

Is there a good way to identify if its the UJ thats the issue? MOT tester was saying noisy diff. Its sounds like constant droning tyre noise - started at 120K has been getting progressively worse - now at 160K. Getting difficult to hear the radio so time to sort it! The sound reduces when cornering left - guess this takes load off the left hand front axle so it cant be input shaft bearing into the diff. The Paj is my daily commute, so can't take her off the road for long if I was to have a go at a diff refurb myself..... Many thanks for the advice so far. |
