Hi all,

New to all of this but here goes...bought a 2006 Shogun Pinin.1.8 petrol. After a thorough service my mechanic told me that I need a new oil dipstick tube as the current one is corroded and the old metal section of the dipstick may be inside...I am struggling to find a new tube to replace the old one...are there any compatible models which I could use???

Thanks

If this has the 1834cc GDi engine, try your local Volvo dealership, this I say because they support parts for earlier generations of cars - I even got a split new, ex-factory radiator and cam gear set from there for my 142 S - so the S40/V40 - late '90s and early C21 - shouldn't be too hard for their parts counter to source, even if they have to order one from a Belgian dealer's stock.

The sump bulge looks similarly placed in both the Carisma and the IO ("Pinin") GDi, this is the only likely factor to make a significant difference between your n-s engine and the S40/V40's e-w engine.

Volvo dealer parts prices are surprisingly fair for older stuff too; that parts for the 140 that I mentioned were cheaper than converting to a steel camshaft drive and having the original rad recored!
Check the Mick's Garage site for part numbers for the Volvo or use the IO part number on Megazip for the GDi as it appears in your car.

Hi guys,

Thanks so much for all your help and guidance. It ended up being a broken dipstick in the tube. Managed to get it cleared out today.

Have a great new year.

Cheers
