Just fitted a tempt gauge , noticed a drip from the sensor in the coolant hose. Do these need thread tape to seal? Didnt want to tighten to much as its alloy..

No, the earth is taken from the engine, so don't put Teflon tape. Tight it bit more, it has a tapered thread.

You may wrap top few threads with Teflon tape and tighten it so that the earth connection is still maintained.
