Hi All

I am buying a 16 plate Shogun, I collect it on Saturday, and am keen to get it undersealed as this is the most I have ever spent on a car and want it to last a long long time.

I am in Edinburgh - can anyone recommend a place that does this or what type of underseal treatment is the best/worst so I can factor this in when I pick a place to do the work.

Many thanks.

Some people use WaxOyl but I think it is difficult to apply and doesn't work very well.

I use Dinitrol and do it myself.

If you want someone else to do it then maybe use the "Rustbuster" service on rust.co.uk - I have never used them but I have a mate who did.

From my experience, Dinitrol is better than waxoyl.

Must be the millionth underseal thread! My tuppence is if you don't currently have any surface rust then that is half the battle won. The previous owner of my paj had put it in for two waxoyl treatments and after 15 years half of it was bubbling up and trapping moisture while the other half was holding up. The only weld I've had done was rusted from inside a chassis rail so difficult to say if the waxoyl helped or hindered. At this point I'm considering the farmer's trick of spraying the whole underside in old engine oil!
