Forgot to mention previously - when i got the car the display showed miles left in the tank, it already had an after market stereo. After replacing the battery it was in litres / kms or some such eurononsense.  Google has helped me put it to MPG but i much preferred the miles left option - is there no way to adjust iit?  Will it do this every time i have a flat battery or change / disconnect it?  Do i need an original stereo to alter it? does anyone hire them for an hour? lol

I did see  one post somewhere where a guy had wired an extra button into the display but TBH i dont have the level of subtlety required and would probably end up with a doorbell nailed to the dash.... Smile

All help greatfully received and ill even ensure a witty thank you is administered!

I Would be very grateful if someone could point me in the right direction for instructions to change mine to miles left rather than km, I just cant find anything, think my googl-fu is broken!  Rolling Eyes

Sorted it  Very Happy  Very Happy
If anyone has the same problem, here is the solution
press the blank button and set button at the same time and the display should flash the setting currently used, to change to miles press the hour button and the minute button for kilometers.. then set to exit..job done
think i preferred it in km, its not doing much to the gallon  Rolling Eyes

However fast or slow I drive, the average speed has never changed... its at 25mph, is that normal? ive even disconnected the battery for 1.5 hours to reset the ecu, still the same. The fuel consumption display changes... so maybe its a wiring fault from one of the sensors..   Confused

hi guys
strangely enough my pinin has shown average speed of 24mph. never changed in the 6 months i have owned the vehicle. weird. and on the subject of that gauge thing, does anyone know how the computer calculates the average mpg? i do a calculation based on miles travelled since last fill up, and always get a different figure to that shown.

cheers

I found the following on a Mitsubishi Colt Forum.

With the key in the ignition - "Off" - Press button A (blank on the central display) - turn the key to "On" - release button. Display should now show the number of miles left in the tank. Works OK on a 2003 Shogun.
