I need a replacement HID bulb for my MY11 (60 plate) Diamond.
Does anyone know what type they are and how easy they are to fit? |

Hi Steve I’ve got hid’s, I know this because when I turn my head lights on they are initially dull and low down then become bright and rise within 1-2 seconds, sorry don’t know how to change them but let us know if and when you do.
Hope this helps |

After some reading "Danger of Death" warnings in the service and workshop manuals I decided to take professional advice.
I rang the dealers - £100+ for a new bulb. £550+ if the ballast needed changing
A bit of google and I found a HID specialist (who normally retro fit kits to non HID cars) and after a very sensible discussion they suggested I opt in and see them and they would diagnose what the problem was.
It was a 45 minute drive and the diagnosis cost me £10. It was the ballast and they didn't stock those - The bulb was fine.
What I noticed was that the guy who took the bulb out just put some nitrile gloves on and asked that I wasn't in the car (so couldn't turn on the headlights) while he took out the bulb for testing.
Bulbs would be about a £10 each if I had needed one. Best to do a pair if needed I was told.
The ballast was £35 from the bay and my local garage fitted it for the labour costs (I can't remember if the bumper needed to come off or not as I had the car serviced at the same time) |

Steve, the ballast is a high voltage item and works around 600 volts, when you change an HiD bulb it is always best to change both as they deteriorate with age and this deterioration causes a colour change in the bulbs, if you change one then its bound to be a different colour to the old one. |

Hi turns out the L bracket that holds the sensor to the rear suspension arm was rusty and sheared and the 2 metal linkage parts were just hanging down, think I’ll make a new L bracket for a permanent repair as long as the bolts don’t shear,
Old motors eh. |
