Hey 4x4ers

Just a sad update (possibly/probably)

We first got our V6 3.0 24 valve SWB Shogun in 2014. it gave us 6 years of more or less total reliability and was much loved. In fact, my wife really wishes that we still had it.

Within the first year, we received a knock at the door. A guy (a traveller) was asking if we wanted to sell it. We explained we had only just got it. Three years later, the same guy knocked again. Again we said we weren’t selling. In February of 2020, the same guy knocked again. This time we told him we were looking to sell the truck as we had just bought a new Volvo XC40 and he could have it in March. He came back with cash on the 1st of March to collect. Since then I’ve been keeping an eye out on the Government web site to check on its status. Unfortunately the tax ran out on September 2020 and the MOT ran out in November 2020.

The guy that bought it commented on how clean it was. On the test drive, he said it was ‘perfect’. It’s upsetting to think that the truck that I looked after for six years may have met a sticky end.

We only did about 4K mileage a year. I’m embarrassed to say that in the 6 years of ownership, I never got around to changing the oil. I gave the new owner 5 litres of oil and a filter.

I still think about the truck regularly. It was one of my better buys. V630 JDD RIP.
