Hi all

After some advice on my 2008 3.2did,  coming home yesterday and engine management light come on along with traction control light and truck went into limp mode, stopped started again traction lights goes out but engine management stays on so drive a little but hut ad soon as u booted it a little it then goes back into limp mode and traction light comes on, take it easy and traction light stays off but with engine management light on.

I had code red today and come up with P1299  Vgt system (low pressure)

Check all pips for splits and being loose and all seem OK

Had fault code cleared and done 30 miles in it and all seems OK again pushing it a little and no lights

Anyone had this code or know where to look for cause?

Cheers

Code No. P1299: Variable Geometry Turbocharger Control System Malfunction (low pressure)

Reason for code: Actual boost pressure is lower than target boost pressure by less than 6.7 kPa

If you search google for "TURBOCHARGER SUPERCHARGING PRESSURE CHECK <4M4>" then you'll find a workshop manual page about.

Unless you have a boost leak some kind (check intercooler hoses) then I suspect it's your MAP sensor.  It's mounted on the firewall and connects via a small pipe to the first part of the inlet manifold.  As crud builds up in the inlet manifold then this port to this pipe can get blocked and it stops the MAP sensor from detecting the manifold pressure.

Sorry to hear that.  It's a horrible job to do !

I've found this post on another forum: http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/topic/98240-mitsubishi-turbo-fault-code-help/

This indicates that the problem in this case was that the actuator arm for the variable geometry turbo was seized.
