My good friend Bob (fabricator) came round today and fabricated a hub nut locking wrench for me, I had most of the parts all ready just needed some 8mm hardened rod for the pins.

As you can see in the picture I’ve used a deep socket, reason for this is my torque wrench is quite long, so needed to come outside the wheel arch.

Materials used.
1: Deep hub nut socket for a Land Rover III series, giving a good depth and internal clearance for the drive shaft.
1: Large socket from a high impact air socket set, half inch drive type.
1: length of 8mm hardened steel rod for the 8mm Bottom pins.
1: peace of flat steel plate

As you can see here the pins are set into the bottom of the tool not just welded to the bottom of the wrench, to give maximum purchase on the locking nut, so not relying on the welds to hold the pins in place.

We decided not to clean the welds off too much, so keeping the maximum strength in the tool as possible.

A big thank you to my good friend Bob for making such a good job of this very hard to come by tool.   salute
