Hey Guys,

My MOT is out but I'm getting the old EML light problem which I'm pretty sure is with the turbo. 75% sure it's an overboost problem.

I can't drive it anywhere except an MOT centre as it's run out. The EML light usually doesn't come on straight away, will it fail because of this?

I'm not sure if I know enough to fix the problem on my driveway and can't see friends etc at the minute with diagnostics due to covid.

Is it a straight fail if an EML light shows, whatever the problem may be?

100% depends on your test staff - its a failure going by the book but I got my citroen runabout through for years with the light on and that was from an EGR blank which went on to produce a manifold pressure fault code. I could clear it for about ten minutes but printed out the OBD screen and my guy was happy enough to let it through on the understanding it wasn't a genuine engine fault. To be honest I would have just pulled the dash bulb out for the test but the display also liked to scroll "engine fault" across the screen at startup! I'm not suggesting anyone cheats the test or ignores the light but there are situations where sensor faults and EML lights are actually the only problem.
