Mk4 2012 LWB 3.2 auto, I’ve had a few occasions where I’ve stopped for a short time and moved the gear-lever into P, then when I want to move off I can’t get the button the pull in to allow me to shift back to D, or any other gear. The button is solid , and I’ve tried taking the handbrake off and pushing the brake down, but it simply won’t move.
It’s happened 3 or 4 times now, yesterday was seriously stressful when I had stopped outside a shop to pick up one of my kids and then couldn’t move off again as I couldn’t pull in the button and shift back to D, and let’s just say blocking the road while furiously trying to get your car into gear doesn’t seem to generate much sympathy from everyone stuck behind you!! After about 5 mins and lots of tries it worked fine suddenly, and didn’t do it again yesterday, but it’s a real worry and pain not knowing off it might keep happening.
Any ideas on this one?? |
