|
|
Hi.
MY11 LWB
I've been to see a local aircon specialist since my aircon was failing about 6 month after a re-gas and he nitrogen pressure tested and then went looking for leaks.
He found some pinhole leaks (using good old detergent & water showing bubble formation) where the clips hold the front to rear pipes under the body - lots of corrosion visible at the clips too.
Does anyone know of the part numbers or stockist for these pipes so I can get them replaced before re-gassing?
I've done a bit of googling but can't see anything obvious, but I could be missing the correct search terms.
Regards,
Stephen |

Mitzy Bitz used to stock them, alternatively it is possible to blank off the rear system. |

Thanks Radiomike.
Can't find them on Mitzi Bitz' website. ZA dealer has quoted me this:
Aircon Pipe Numbers
V Rear
£103.65 Suction 7815V823
£67.48 Discharge 7815V824
Centre
£84.76 Suction 7815A286
£65.91 Discharge 7815A120
Prices need VAT adding. |

Many specialists can make the pipes up and they now fit plastic clips. |

I had my rear aircon pipes blanked off under the bonnet. Front still works great. Easy fix. Cost a few pounds rather than a few hundred. |

Many thanks everyone.
Sealing or blanking off will be the way forward I think.
I just need to find someone local who can do this. |

I’ve just done this. Not a bad job to be honest. An 8mm hydraulic compression blank on the high pressure side works a treat. I was going to use a 12mm compression on the low pressure side and ordered the same however when I chopped the pipes and came to fit it I discovered Mitsi had used that popular size 12.4mm OD!
So in the end I made a slug to the same dimensions as the original pipe to take the original
O ring seal and fitted this to the union nut.
Pressure tested with nitrogen and then recharged and it’s been properly ice cold for a weeks holiday in Cornwall. |

It turned out I must have had another pinhole leak somewhere else as after 2 months the aircon lost its power.
Since I will be selling the car in a couple of months I've used one of the STP aircon leak fixers.
Fingers are crossed that all will be well as I travel to Spain soon. |

This is the only way I found a bungler, so you have to be careful and find someone you can trust. |
