I used Diesel Bob many years ago for a pump rebuild, and it's worked flawlessly since.

|

Hi all,
I am new to this forum so please forgive me if I get it wrong.
The details of my vehicle are as follows:
1996/97 Mitsubishi Pajero Fieldmaster Diesel 2.8 TD
Model: KD-V46WG
Engine: 4M40
Note that this is the Fieldmaster version, which was the last version before the change in body shape and was more powerful. It was imported from Japan to Miami and is now abroad.
The problenm I have is that it will idle at constant revs. It constantly revs higher then lower until it cuts out. When I drive it, it is like a bucking bronco, going fast then slow. When I touch the accelerator it revs very fast.
My local garage (that has looked after it for some years) tells me that it needs a new Fuel Injection Pump. I have been quoted £975 (!!! ) for a replacement one from MitzyBits (because they say it is 'fly by wire' and very rare) but I don't know if this will fix the problem.
Any ideas ....... ?
By the way, I fitted a replacement speed sensor recently (which seems to be inaccurate as it shows very high speeds) but the garage says that this is not relevant.
Any help or advice will be much appreciated. |

CORRECTION:
It should say that it will NOT idle at constant revs ! |
