|
|
The temperature gauge on my 2007 3.2 shogun never gets up to half way so I'm planning on replacing the thermostat to see if that cures the problem but I've run in to an issue. What is the opening temp of the thermostat for the 2007 3.2 DID engine? Depending on where I look it could be the 76.5°c or 82°c, so which is it? Any advice would be much appreciated thanks. |

Quick question, does the heater get hot and does it blow hot air out.
I ask because mine never reaches half way and is in rude health and remember these vehicles are designed for towing 3 tonnes + over the sahara desert and in the Arctic Circle without overheating or overcooling so this is normal. |

Yes the heater does blow warm. But as I understand the whole point of the thermostat is to maintain optimum engine temperature regardless of load or external conditions. So if it's not getting up to operating temperature then it is in fact overcooling which is not normal. I understand it could also be a faulty/inaccurate temp gauge but for Ģ20 or less I'll just swap out the thermostat first to see if it does anything. |

It is reaching operating temperature and just because the needle reads low it doesn't mean its running cool as everything runs on temperature as this dictates everything from fuelling to idling speed, if it runs correctly and idles around 950 from cold and drops to around 700 when warm it is within the working range, from there I would run it up the motorway for a juncrion and see what happens as I cannot see a problem other than you falling into the usual trap of thinking your vehicle is running too cool; many also fall into the same trap. |
