We're not talking about private land or a quarry when you may not need to care about the state you leave the track in or how many bits of car you leave behind, but on a road try and show a bit of responsibility !

How about:
Walk the track first to check you can drive it safely and without causing it (Or you) any damage.

Avoid wheel spin as all it means is you have lost traction.

Slow down for all other track users, even ramblers occasionally.

Leave nothing behind to suggest you have driven along the track

Avoid damaged sections don't just plough through and make them worse.

It's only by behaving when driving public tracks that we will continue to be able to enjoy them.

We all like to thrash around at high speeds, but find somewhere suitable to do it ! Sad

Cheers Simon, I just get soooo hacked off by the minority of off roaders who wreck it for the rest of us. Having spent over an hour restoring the slope down to the chasm on "The Gap" in Wales and then watching 2 prats in SJs wreck it in 30 seconds, attempt to recover one of their sheds of *beep* using a winch joined to a snatch rope and THEN nearly mow down a rambler by trying a REVERSE tow up hill and round a corner, I sometimes feel the anti 4x4 lobby has a point. Crying or Very sad

Go to see Andy Young at Langdale Quest or spend a day at a quarry if you want to really test your truck ! Laughing

To find your local green lanes you'll want to grab yourself a local OS map. Most users tend to opt for a 1:25,000 map which can show the area in much more detail (many of these lanes are small and can be easy to miss on a larger one).04-Feb-2022
