My idle speed has always been just a tiny bit on the high side and I decided to adjust it yesterday after a good run out. Checked for free play in the throttle cable and checked the stop screw and was surprised that I could see light between the screw and quadrant. There's a vacuum actuator with a bent rod that looks like it pulls the throttle open and that was acting as the stop. Am I right in thinking this is for the aircon idle, as I though that would be solenoid operated? Anyhow, I undid the lock nut and increased the clearance on the rod just enough to get a good tickover. The throttle stop screw now contacts the quadrant and everything seems to be working fine.

Hello mine is a 2.8 and if yours is the same, yes what you describe is the Aircon idle up.
