The factory fitted dipped beam HIDs on my high-miler 2018 are awful on both sides. (The halogens on my previous Gen 3 were way, way better. Incomparable.)
I changed the bulbs for new Osrams but it made no difference. I'm wondering if the projector bowls are burnt out/tarnished and if anyone here had had this happen?
As well as the new bulbs, the battery is good, the earths aren't corroded, the high beams work great, the HIDs don't flicker, they're a normal white colour for HIDs and the dimness is the same each side. From reading around, it seems unlikely it's a ballast issue.
I stuck a little boroscope camera in through the bulb hole. The projector lens was slightly opaque (but don't they look like that anyway?) and I couldn't manage to look at the back of the bowl.
Any experience or anything else I should try?
Thanks

HID lamps actually wear out as they are a discharge light and light up gas to a very high temperature and the repeated heating and cooling wears out the gasses and firing elements out over time and they actually change colour slightly and the only sure fire way of correcting this is to change both bulbs at the same time and noting their colours which should be matched and equal, if the new bulbs are not then look at the projectors.

Thanks assasin. Yep - both bulbs were changed at the same time for new genuine Osrams. The new bulbs seem identical colour and brightness. Too be honest I couldn't notice a difference to the ones they replaced. They work, they're a normal white-ish HID colour .... they just don't light up the road much
