Hi, a newby here is need of some help please.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but I wasn’t sure where to put it.

I have a 2014 Shogun SWB van and it recently lost 4WD. My usual garage who are Volvo dealers dropped the gear box out and replaced all the solenoids but within 4 days the fault had reappeared. A few days later the ABS lights started flashing and it’s gone in to a more local garage to see what the issue is. They aren’t a Mitsubishi garage but the mechanics have Shogun experience and have run diagnostics and have said it probably needs rewiring but they don’t have the experience to do it.

I desperately need to find a Shogun specialist mechanic in and around the Banbury area so it can be mended. Is there anyone who can recommend somebody local to me who might be able to help.

Thank you
Lisa

Not an expert, but I have been there after getting the switches replaced. First time I used EBay supplied switches, basically third party. The tolerance was so tight on them that they would cause the same issue as you. Second time around the garage used Mitsubishi ones. Then it worked - that was 2 years ago now!

Thank you, are the switches the same things as the solenoids? The garage didn’t use Mitsubishi ones so that may be where the issue is.

Sorry, I have the MK3 Shogun. Yours might be the MK4. The switches, are in my version, literally switches that detect the position of parts of the gearbox - it's how the system  determines whether 2 or 4 /Hi / Lo wheel drive setting it is in use. A solenoid is I believe something that would move something, so not a switch. When my switches were playing up it would flash the amber light (4x4), the traction control light would also illuminate. You might get a better answer from another member - it just might take a little time.

Thank you for your help, I think I understand the difference now. I will try to get it to a Mitsubishi garage and get them to take a look. It has an MOT due so it has got to be done.
