Hi, New joiner to what looks like an excellent forum and as usual for a new member I have joined because I have a problem. I hope I will be able to give something back in exchange for some help with a problem vehicle that I have in with me at the moment. Here goes

The vehicle in question is a 1996 Mitsubishi Pajero 2800 with the 4M40 engine. It originally came in with symptoms that included lack of power and smoke from the exhaust. A fault code check revealed fault codes of 43 Timing Control Valve and 25 Timing position sensor. After clearing the fault codes and conducting a road test only code 43 returned. A new timing control valve was sourced and fitted (from a bosch agent). The vehicle was driven and performance was improved and no reoccurring fault code so it was returned to the customer. A fortnight later
the symptoms returned. A recheck of the fault codes revealed a permanent 25 TPS fault code that would not clear. After weeks of searching it became apparent that these valves for the 2.8 with Zexel pump are no longer available (readily available for the 3.2). We have since obtained a second hand pump and swapped the Timing Position Sensor but the fault code remains.

I have purchased a workshop manual from Australia but sadly it features everything apart from the wiring information for the Zexel fuel pump.

So I have 2 questions. Would anybody know where I could purchase the information for the Zexel fuel pump or would anyone have any suggestions where to head next?

The vehicle is regularly serviced and has a relatively new fuel filter installed. Im trying my hardest to keep a much loved Pajero on the road for a long term customer of mine and would very much appreciate any help anyone may be able to provide

Many thanks in anticipation of help
Simon
