Mix a bucket of soapy water with an auto shampoo, using double/triple the recommended strength and rinse your wheels with a hose to get rid of all the brake dust. If your wheels are extremely dirty, spray some detergent-based (not acid or alkaline based solvents) wheel cleaner on them and let it sit for about 2 minutes. Then using a brush and the bucket of water, scrub down the wheels and tyres using plenty of water. You might want to do the wheel wells too whilst you're at it...well, at least the accessible areas. I often unbolt all my wheels every couple of months to completely clean them. Finally, rinse the wheels and tires and dry them with a cloth. If you apply any tyre dressing at all, you might want to apply some with a sponge, unless you want a really shiney look, where you can just spray them on, wiping off the excess. Hope this help! |
