MarkyD

What did you order and why did you choose it?
I know nothing of CBs but think they are a great idea in a Paj.
Just trying to learn what things to consider when buying...

hi mate,

ordered a maycom. very good, just slots under the radio., very easy to set up. make sure you get hold of a swr meter, or buy one. (this basically tunes in your ariel).

I choose the maycom because its a good mid range set, read alot of reviews before i brought it. it will mainly be used off road and for meets

Speak to jim he will point you in the right direction Wink

Just a word of warning to all would be breakers When routing your co-ax from the ant to the rig try not to get the co-ax near the ECU or connecting wiring as the RF from it can damage the ECU. you'll know if it is doing damage when things go wrong when you have the mic in transmit.
Also if you have an ant in the centre of the vehicle the ground plane pattern is roughly the same as the car shape, So if you put an ant at the rear then the best coverage is to the front, and vice versa. so for all round use centre of the car.

Hello,

Just wanted to say, I spoke to Jim at 4x4 cb yesterday. I wanted a rig for my paj, but didn't have a clue what I needed as this is all completely new to me. Jim was very helpful, and answered all of my questions, I have ordered a midland 78+ multi, which he says should be with me on tuesday, I cant wait. He explained how to set it up, and said if I had any problems or further queries, to get in touch with him and he would help me sort it. So very pleased with Jim at 4x4 cb so far.

Spoke to Jim on Monday, he was extremely helpful. Brought the Midland 48, with springer ariel and mag mount. Do make sure that you mention the club as he will give you a discount. The bits arrived before 10 the next day.

I just called Jim and must admit, he's VERY helpful!

By the end of the call, my order comprised of:
Intek M790
DIN mounting bracket
External speaker
Gutter mount + Large Aerial
SWR meter
(for a total of just under £140)

Given that I have no previous experience nor knowledge of CB radios, I think that finding someone with some good advice is critical... Should get the lot by Tuesday, so next weekend I'll be fitting it all (my dashboard is still in pieces as it's been way too cold for me to go out!)

M.

I'll second all of the praise for 4 x 4 c b . c o m . I've bought around 300 quids worth off them (I guess that it's Jim I've been speaking to) but never knew to mention the club to try and wangle a discount. Then again, Jim's been that helpful, I've always been happy to pay what price is listed on the site. Nice to see some people still know the meaning of 'Customer Service'! Very Happy
