Cold-start smoke

Hi, I have recently purchased a 1993 2.5TD manual SWB Pajero and am very pleased with it. It does however throw out a large amount of blue smoke when starting from cold, is this normal or does something need adjusting?
Would be grateful for any ideas or experiences.

from my experiance the answer is yes they do, providing it starts on all cylinders,i would advise all is well and dont look in the mirror. i got concerned it was only mine that did it , dont worry some do some dont so my diesel specialist told me!
