Any ideas......
New batteries needed just before Xmas..would'nt start.....one would'nt hold charge according to Halfords. Did'nt mind as I was replacing the originals. Started OK since then. No warning lights, but would not start today due to flat battery. Jump started OK, but no charge seems to be going to battery (using lights though). When I touch the brake the rev counted goes to zero! All dash lights very dim. Alternator bust? Any ideas where to start looking?

go for bad earths first, check the connections to the chassis and engine from the neg side of the batteries, using a ohm meter should be next to nothing from the earth lead to the chassis and the engine.
