Hi
I have towed 3 time to spain not down as far as Costa del Sol but twice to Costa Brava and once to Costa Dorada.
I think you are being a bit optomistic with th 2 day estimate.
When we went to Costa Dorada, just past Salou we left Essex on Thursday morning and travelled via Calais through to Reims and made our first overnight stop north of Dijon.
Nest day we continued though to just before the Spanish border and stopped at the service area called Village Catalan which is perfect for caravans.
Saturday morning we set off and arrived at around 1400 in Costa Dorada
A total of 2.5 days
Admit we were travelling with a total of 6 (me,wife her parents who are in their 70's plus two girls of 14)
motorway speeds were 50 - 60 mph. on the first day we made two stops on route after leaving the ferry for dinner and coffee.
The second day consisted of two stops of which one must have been nearly two hours because the service area was a day out in itself. and we arrived at our overnight stop about 1900.
On the last leg I think once again we had two short stops of about 30 minutes.
I hope this gives you some help, if you have any other questions dont hesitate to ask.

We have now changed our dates and are going a day earlier and returning a day later.going down there we now have 3 & half days to get there and returning we have 3 days.
Hopefully this should be enough. The other thing that concerns me are the o/night stops,do you leave the van hitched or what security would you advise. And is there a way to find the rest stops before we go so we can have some sort of plan.
Thanks in advance

Stuart it gets extremely hot there in July, your talking of temperatures into the 90`s day after day. We lived down that way some years ago and used to come home July/August away from the heat. This site will give you some idea. This is Malaga airport, you can add at least 10 degrees down the coast.
