JUST DID MINE SO HERE IS HOW
FIRST TAKE OFF THE STEP AND STEP BAR THEN CUT DOWN AS SHOWN HERE
THEN MEASURE FROM THE BOTTOM OF YOUR TOW PLATE {A} TO JUST BELOW THE TOW RING {C}
I FOUND IT BEST TO MAKE A CARD STENCIL SO YOU CAN LINE THE BOLT HOLES UP AND GET THE RIGHT HEIGHT
THEN MAKE A 4 MM METAL PLATE USING THE STECIL AS A GUIDE
THEN WELD THE PLATE TO THE STEP BAR
THEN REPAINT FIT END CAPS
THEN YOU JUST REFIT THE TOW BALL ON TOP OF THE NEWSTEP PLATE
AND IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS GETTING THE TOW HITCH ON THE TOWBALL JUST PUT A SPACER PLATE BEHIND THE TOWBALL TO BRING IT FORWARD
NOW THE NEXT THING TO DO IS THE ELECTRICS THATS WHERE I NEED HELP CAN ANY ONE POST A STEP BY STEP GUIDE ON HOW TO FIT DOUBLE ELECTRICS AND THEN WE WILL HAVE A COMPLETE GUIDE |

If it's easy enough to do I could ask my neighbour to make a few (engineering shop) to sell in the club shop for club funds, they're always asking on here about doing it? |

Peter, & others
I produced a set of engineering drawings for this mod when I did it some time ago. I didn't fix to the towbar, but behind the recover hook. Supplied Simon(POCUK) with the design FOC
look HERE
SteveN
Here they are : (Simon)
Mk1 mounting plate
Mk2 spacer

Is that really a good idea - how do you get the tow hitch on and off without much swearing??? |

No problem, if you follow the link in my post, you'll see that for extra clearance the step can be tilted. I've towed a 5 berth van & a number of trailers with NO poblems. I designed mine specifically to allow me to tow the van with my towbar/ball height.
