|

It would be good to have a more detailed way to compare insurance details in order to exploit the best deal.
All the insurers mentioned on the forums have fans and critics and this is rightly so since even for the same age, driving history and vehicle spec the premium could differ from one indiviual to another 'coz of postcode, company policy, named driver and/or colour of underwear (or even underwear/no underwear - no, errr... where woz I, ahem.. calm down Bill).
I have seen somewhere on the web a vehicle owners group (can't remember which bloody one though! maybe someone else knows?) that has a table (spreadsheet) holding all relevant data so's you could compare all factors.
Maybe we should have one on here.
How about it - any use?, good idea or not? (If not I'll sulk )

Hi Ian ...
it's a good idea, but without access to each company's underwriting system and knowledge of their rules, it's not that easy ... for most you would need at least :
What cover - fully comp / tpf&t / tpo
Car make / model / trim
Car age / value
Where is it parked at night
Home address / postcode
Business / SD&P use?
your gender / age / driving history / NCD
additional drivers details
How much voluntary access are you prepared to pay
I think they are the most common major factors ... how on earth could we display an output for that? And keep it current - new business / renewals are never the same either!
I'm not running down your suggestion - it is a good idea, it would be great to be able to have a form you fill in and the recommended insurers quotes are displayed - I'm sure there must be a facility somewhere on the net?

OK, I take your point.
What about us filling in the info ourselves , members willing? To get an idea of what's available in each area and by whom. We seem to discuss prices, fines, penalty points etc quite openly, the only thing I can think that members may be sensitive over is postcode.
If it's a complete non-starter no problem, I had no other ideas scheduled at the time |
